Why a clinical note does not work for families
A parent reading "required 2 verbal cues for tripod grasp across 10 trials" learns nothing actionable. The information is correct and useless to them. Rewriting it as "she held the pencil on her own about half the time today, and less of a reminder each round" gives them something to do differently at home.
One practice activity, not five
Caregivers who receive five recommendations do none of them. The recap is built to end with a single clear practice item. If you want to send more, do it in a separate message — keeping this document short is what makes it get read.
It changes how families show up
Sending a short recap after every session is one of the cheapest retention habits a practice can build. Families who understand what changed tend to keep appointments and follow through, which improves outcomes without any change to the treatment itself.
